
Mary Ganguli
Dr. Mary Ganguli is Professor of Psychiatry in the Division of Geriatrics and Neuropsychiatry of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, with joint faculty appointments in the Departments of Neurology and also in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. She studied medicine at Christian Medical College, Vellore, obtaining her medical degree from Madras University (India ) and underwent psychiatry residency at Memorial University in St. John's (Canada) and the University of Pittsburgh, where she also obtained a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology. She is certified in psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and also by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with added qualifications in geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Ganguli's research focus is on the epidemiology of late-life mental disorders, primarily the dementias and mild cognitive impairment. She has been Principal Investigator on four major epidemiology studies sponsored by the National Institute on Aging (National Institutes of Health). In addition to this Dr. Ganguli has published several peer-reviewed articles, invited articles, and book chapters, in addition to conference proceedings and abstracts, and is a frequent speaker at national and international meetings related to aging and dementia. Dr. Ganguli currently serves on the American Academy of Neurology's Practice Parameter Group on Mild Cognitive Impairment and was a member of the Neurocognitive Disorders work group of the American Psychiatric Society's Task Force on the Fifth Edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).
