<p>Dear Colleagues</p>
<p>It gives me great pleasure to place before you the April, 2007 issue of the journal which contains 5 papers (3 original articles, 1 review article and 1 case report). It is gratifying to note that one of the articles is from overseas. The present issue is of 28 pages and we need more submissions to increase this as well as publish the rest of the two issues of this calendar year in time because both these facts are taken into consideration for getting the journal indexed. I feel that with your continued support we may be able to achieve this soon.</p>
<p>The processing of nociceptive inflammation in the spinal dorsal horn may change significantly following peripheral nerve injury or inflammation leading to the development of neuropathic pain. Resniclu et al., have used the loose ligation of the sciatic nerve model in the rat to demonstrate that genetic plasticity in the spinal dorsal horn may be an important contributor to peripheral nerve injury elicited neuropathic pain. Their results reveal a differential pattern of gene expression between animals manifesting thermal hyperalgesia and those animals in which this behavioral sign of neuropathic pain had resolved. In the latter animals the gene expression pattern was very similar to that of control uninjured animals.</p>
<p>Teleosts represent the most abundant group of bony fishes. The teleostean hypothalamo-hypophysial system offers a simple model to determine the anatomical relationship between the specific neurons, the bioactive substances present in them and the pituitary cell types on which they act. Bhute et al., have used the Labeo rohita to study the cytoarchitecture of the olfactory system, forebrain and pituitary gland using the Kluver and Barrera and Aldehyde fuchsin staining techniques.</p>
<p>Chronic daily headache is a common clinical problem seen in about 40% of patients attending headache clinics. Verma in a retrospective analysis of 420 consecutive headache patients observed that transformed migraine constituted the largest subgroup amongst patients with chronic daily headache. More than half the patients had psychological comorbidity and analgesic overuse was observed in nearly one-fifth of the subjects. The burden of recurrent migraine attacks is the main factor in the transformation of episodic to chronic migraine.</p>
<p>Patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) invariably experience a wide range of neurological complications associated with AIDS that are collectively referred to as HIV associated dementia (HAD). The worldwide incidence of HAD is upto 40% of AIDS population. Vetrivel and Seth have reviewed the cellular and molecular basis of the neuropathogenesis of HAD, the advantage and limitations of highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART) and how HAD has evolved in the post HAART era.</p>
<p>Reversible posterior leucoencephalopathy syndrome is now a recognized clinico-radiological entity commonly associated with malignant hypertension toxemia of pregnancy, or with immunosuppressive and cytotoxic drugs. Verma and Awasthi report a young female presenting with this syndrome due to fulminant toxemia of pregnancy.</p>
