Abstract
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is one of the major neurodegenerative disorders, which has no curative treatment so far. The disease is progressive and pathologically characterized by death of motor neurons in spinal cord and brain of the patients. Significant muscular weakness followed by paralysis and respiratory failure is the major cause of death in these patients. Superoxide dismutase (SOD1) gene mutation is one of the major causes of this disorder and till date more than 114 known mutations are reported in this gene
